There has been a long term proposal to visit Bempton Cliffs while the Gannets are nesting there but, until now, nothing had come of it. Mixed weather forecasts threatened but Andrew, Les and myself decided that it was now or never and set off at 6 am. last Thursday. In the end it turned out to be a beautiful day.
I had expected to see puffins in action but we only saw a few perched on the cliffs – nothing like the Farne Island spectacular. In the end though I was more than happy with my shots of the gannets.
From the RPPB site at Bempton Cliffs we moved on to Flamborough Cliff and then to Flamborough Head with its lighthouse.
